Concerned Taman Kepong residents expressed their concern over the "Hakmilik Sementara"

In a surprise turnout by residents of Taman Kepong at a meeting organised by the Taman Kepong Action Group (TKAG), some 60 residents turned up to raise their concerns over the "hakmilik sementara" issue.

Many could not find a seat in the classroom-style hall.

They demanded the FT Land Office to convert the qualified title into permanent title within the two months deadline (until January 15) given earlier.

Residents were unhappy with the FT Land Office over the question of why it had failed to address the issue of "Hakmilik Sementara" (qualified title) all these years. Some of the residents have lived here for 40 years. Now is the time to find out if the PM is serious about "Rakyat diutamakan" given the two months deadline to the Land Office.

Residents had earlier on approached MP of Kepong, YB Dr Tan Seng Giaw to assist. Dr Tan has since brought up the issue in a meeting with the FT Minister, Raja Nong Cik who promised to convert the qualified title to permanent title.

Come back to this blog from time to time for the latest update. Next update will be the list of committee members of the Taman Kepong Action Group. Find out who is the representative for your street. So far, the residents have only picked representatives from Jalan 1 - 10 because of lack of contacts. If your street is not represented, please email the committee (via ejng@pc.jaring.my).

I think generally most people are simply fed-up with what they see happening. Corruption has become too rampant, and the Government is not acting on complaints raised. Even when they checked with the Land Office, they were given the run around and all sorts of reasons were told to them. Instead of solving the issue, it has been allowed to drag for so long before it came to the surface and housebuyers in Taman Kepong have begun to realise that what they have in their possession is "Hakmilik Sementara" all these years. Now, all they want is for the Land Office to buck up and get the things in order. No more excuses!
