Good news, maybe!

27 December 2010

This may be good news for residents of Taman Kepong!

I just contacted the Director of FT Land and Mines Office, Tuan Hj Hasim bin Haji Ismail ( 03-26103301), who claimed that there is already a "Pelan Akui" for Taman Kepong in the hands of the Survey & Mapping Department (JUPEM). Hasim said that the permanent titles will be issued out in batches without any difficulties.

However, he could not furnish further details but asked me to contact Mohd Azlan Mohd Rodzi (tel: 03-26103404) / Azura Abdul Rahman (tel: 03-26103403) (Bahagian Pendaftaran) tel: 03-26103300 for further updates. Mohd Azlan has confirmed verbally that the first batch of 48 of a total of 524 files are now with the FT Land Office for issuance of the final title. The rest of the files are still with JUPEM awaiting the conversion into metric measurements (i.e. in square metres). The permanent titles will be released in batches.

First, I would like to thank the FT Land & Mines Office for looking into this issue. In retrospect, I wonder why it took the FT Land & Mines Office and the Survey & Mapping Department so long (the cue is that the pelan akui is all in British system i.e. Square Feet) to act on this matter until the matter is brought to light before an action is taken. Some housebuyers have allegedly paid RM100, while others had engaged their own private surveyors to obtain their permanent title.

Now, we will see if the titles can be released before the Chinese New Year, based on a two-month deadline given to the Land Office issued by the residents in an earlier press conference organised by the office of Dr. Tan Seng Giaw and residents of Taman Kepong. We also hope Dr Tan will continue to follow through this matter and do the necessary to ensure that the housebuyers obtain their permanent titles.
