A successful meeting with YB Dr Tan Seng Giaw

Over a hundred residents of Taman Kepong came together to meet the Member of Parliament of Kepong, Dr Tan Seng Giaw.

Dr Tan, accompanied by his wife, explained to the audience the process in which the title is issued, and why residents are currently stranded with the Qualified Title (Hakmilik Sementara).

"The reason is because the Survey and Mapping Department will have to approve the land survey, which the developer was supposed to have carried out," he said.
It was learnt that the survey for Phase One with 524 houses has been carried out, and the files are still with the Survey & Mapping Department, awaiting conversion from square feet to square metres.

However, the developer failed to carry out the survey and mapping of Phase Two in Taman Kepong. "The Action Group urge the residents of Phase Two to come forward and be represented so that a delegation can make a trip to JUPEM to urge them to sort out the issue as soon as possible.

Some residents from Jinjang and Kepong Baru also turned up. Apparently, they also encountered the same problem with Qualified Title (Hakmilik Sementara).

Dr Tan said in the March parliamentary session, he will bring this up as a national issue and urge the authorities to solve the problem with great urgency. In the Klang Valley, we learnt that a number of other housing estates and constituencies are also affected - namely Sri Delima, Batu Caves, Jinjang, Jalan Besar Kepong, Kepong Baru, Sentul, Taman Wahyu.

As a result of efforts undertaken by the Taman Kepong Action Group, the first batch of 21 house owners in Taman Kepong have already received their letters from the Land Office to change their "Qualified Title" (Hakmilik Sementara) to Final Title (Hakmilik Tetap).

Residents were, however, disappointed with the Kepong Police. Its chief failed to turn up, instead, sent Sarjan Mejar Zakaria, who sat through part of the meeting and left before his turn to address the Taman Kepong residents' concern about security in the area. Residents have expressed their concern that crime rate has gone up in the past three years, with a number of houses being broken into, mainly by foreigners.
